Guangyuan Railway Station, 355 kilometers away from Baoji Railway Station, and 319 kilometers from Chengdu Railway Station, is a first-rate station under the administration of Guanyuan Train Department. Invested 20 million yuan for reconstruction, it connects Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway, Xi’an-Chengdu Special Line for Passengers, Baoji-Chengdu Railway and Guangyuan-Bazhong Railway and boasts 8 platforms and 16 lines with overpasses, canopies, underground ways for passengers and luggage. The station building covers an area of 12 thousand square meters. There is also a long-distance transportation center for passengers in its plaza, seeing a passenger flow volume of one million during Spring Festival of China. The station is outfitted water resource heat pump air-conditioning system. From July to December, the station was provisionally close for its reconstruction.
As a prefecture-level city of Sichuan Province, Guangyuan was also known as Lizhou in ancient times and it has a long history of more than 2,300 years. It enjoys reputations of Hometown of Wuzetian(the first and only woman was to assume the title Empress Regnant in the history of China), vital township of North Sichuan, a north gateway to Sichuan and a golden triangle of Sichuan. It is spread out in the north part of Sichuan Basin, the upper reaches of Jialing River and the conjunction of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu. It is a significant passage to learn history and culture of Three Kingdoms, the birthplace of Wuzetian and an important constituent of Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base.
